Driver Hours
Compliance

At Gencat we take the stress out of compliance and use it to advance the efficiency of your transport operation.

Tachograph & Driver Hours
Compliance

We understand the regulations we understand the need to be compliant and we understand why some drivers and transport managers struggle with compliance which can be a cause of confusion
leading to frustration and avoidable infringements. Compliance and enforcement do not have to be such a difficult issue for the transport team.

Tachograph and Drivers hours regulations will always under review and are amended to deliver a better outcome for the well being of drivers, road users and to ensure an even competitive field for fleet operators. The introduction of the second-generation tachograph to assist with the enforcement of new rules to ensure that drivers do not spend months on end living out of a truck cab is a welcome development.

Instant Updates

Along with these new rules come changes in how companies report on drivers’ hours and tachograph compliance. At Gencat we use analysis software from a partner company that accurately and instantly delivers updates on compliance. We recommend to all our clients to invest in technology that cuts out the need to manually download vehicles or driver cards. This one small investment can considerably reduce infringements.

Obligations

Our compliance team will put in place a system to ensure that your vehicle or vehicles and drivers are compliant with the regulations. Employers are obliged to train their drivers in the use of tachograph and driver hours. To assist employers, we have created a number of training courses for
transport managers and for drivers to ensure that they are compliant with the law. These coursesare designed to cover local, national and international work for both goods and passenger operators.

To ensure efficiency these courses are available on our learning and coaching platform.

Road Transport
Culture Programme

Focus on CPC training Dublin, CPC courses Dublin, and Driver CPC training | Road Transport Management and Compliance - Gencat

The role of the commercial driver is undergoing a transformation. The introduction of advanced vehicle and mechanical handling technologies have changed how drivers are trained and supported.

Road Transport Culture Programme

It must be remembered that drivers are one cog in the efficient transmission of goods, people and services in the ever-evolving road transport and logistics industry.

Efficient road transport services are delivered by a team of knowledgeable, experts with a wide range of experience in moving goods and people. We believe that a team approach to this sector
delivers the most rewarding results both in financial reward and job satisfaction. Companies that foster a them and us approach between drivers and transport admin staff are going to struggle to continually perform in these two areas.

Tailored Training

There is a current correction taking place in how commercial vehicle drivers are being treated. The diminishing availability of competent drivers since 2020 has prompted forward looking companies to identify mechanisms to both retain and recruit skilled drivers into their operations.

To meet this emerging demand Gencat have been tailoring their training and coaching programmes to create an awareness of the importance of a team approach to achieving the highest level of performance across all disciplines.

Commercial Driver Recognition Scheme

We developed a commercial driver recognition scheme that identifies the level of knowledge, expertise and experience of a driver. This was an important
element in reducing driver churn and the risk of accidents or the demoralising effect of not getting an expected level of work completed. Drivers can have touch points with the routing, scheduling, maintenance, sales, production and warehouse colleagues.

The driver can be the front facing person of the company when it matters to the customer. Good transport teams will ensure that drivers are knowledgeable and competent on the product or service they are delivering. Drivers should be made aware of the level of service they are expected to provide based on their level of knowledge, expertise and experience.

The use of technology has allowed Gencat to provide interventions that are in the first instance easily accessible by drivers at a place and time that works for them. The material is information and delivered in an engaging way. The programme will support training on specific topics while it coaching element will drive positive behavioural change. We all want to be a part of a winning team and to be recognised for the part we played in the team’s success.
