Our mission is to raise driver’s and operator’s awareness of their commercial, social, environmental and legal responsibilities. Our goal is to professionalise drivers while creating a driving culture within operating company. Our aim is to provide employers and drivers with the necessary tools and training to develop and enhance their skills and advance their careers within the road transport sector. To assist drivers in achieving this aim, we have developed effective training tools and advanced IT solutions to enhance the technical, safety and behavioral skills of drivers and transport management teams. Our driver training programme is the most comprehensive in the industry, covering, industry rules and regulations, work place health and safety as well as personal health promotion. We deliver measurable results to drivers and our client companies. As a result, many drivers have a better understanding of their role and fleet operators have made significant cost savings and reduced risks associated with poor vehicle and driver behaviour. To advise transport companies on regulatory requirements keeping drivers and employers compliant with RSA, An Garda Siochana, VOSA, DVLA, HSA and Department of Transport rules and regulations all of which are increasingly demanding in road transport. Our objective is to raise driving standards by creating a professional driving culture within the organisation, we do by promoting safe and efficient vehicle management and work practices. We enhance driver compliance with training in rules of the road, working time and drivers hours regulations and tachograph use. Our driver agency provides driver cover for holidays and peak load periods. We fully understand our clients objectives and provide drivers who can meet their expectations. Gencat drivers are professional in attitude and experienced people fully committed to delivering an outstanding level of service.

Barry Lyons

Gencat Programme Director
Barry Lyons, the Gencat Programme Director, has extensive professional road transport industry experience (30 years). He is an RSA Approved driver CPC Trainer, holder of International Transport Managers CPC, City & Guilds in Motor Engineering, City & Guilds in Digital Tachograph Technology and Chairman of the European Professional Drivers Association. Based on his experience, qualifications and knowledge, he delivers a set of training programmes specifically tailored to transport management teams and the professional driver. His added value is that, being a very experienced HGV and Coach driver himself, Barry is familiarised with the driving world and its day-to- day issues and can see how when working together transport management and drivers can create an extremely effective partnership.

Managing Director Siobhan O’Mara, manages the core activities of the business and ensures that our reporting and analysis projects are delivered on time and in line with our clients expectations. A graduate of Trinity College and DIT Bolton Street, Siobhan is very well respected by her peers and clients alike.

Kevin Hurley

Administration Officer Gencat
Administration Officer Kevin Hurley is a qualified Accountant and his role is to oversee the reporting procedures and telematics systems. He designs and oversees the scoring and training intervention performance on all of Gencat programmes.
